Core Knowledge of The Examination Structure
In order to ace IB, it is essential to ensure that the preparation done is not just unit-specific, but also paper specific. The following are the papers and how our tutors individually focus on each– Paper 1A, Paper 1B, Paper 2, and IA– to ensure that 7. With the new curriculum at hand, our tutors have went out of the way to design tests and notes according to the February 2023 guidelines.
Paper 1
Paper 1 will have two sections- 1A and 1B- culminating to 45 marks for SL and 60 marks for HL. The duration is 1 hour 30 minutes for SL and 2 hours for HL. The weightage in the final grade is 36% for SL and HL.[1] Both tests are given in one seating. Calculator usage is permitted and a data booklet will be provided.
Paper 1A- MCQs
This MCQ exam tests you on quick applications of basic and complex concepts of all units within the curricula. It is 25 marks and 25 questions for SL, while 40 marks and 40 questions for HL. No marks are deducted for incorrect answers.

Paper 1B- Data Analysis Questions
This section of the test is similar to Section A of the 2016 Syllabus’ Paper 3. It is based on experimental learning and tests the Data analytics skills our tutors will help you develop via online labs like PhET.[1] This section is 20 marks for SL and HL. A sample for this test’s preparation is provided below which highlights the culmination of Unit 1: Measurement and Uncertainties and Unit 4: Waves. It also incorporates questions centred around experiential learning that is gained through the IA.
Section A- November 2018- HL- Paper 3
Paper 2- Short and Long Answer Type Questions
Paper 2, on the other hand, is the exam that most students struggle with. It has 44% weightage for SL and HL; it is 1.5 hours for SL and 2.5 hours for HL; and it is 55 marks for SL and 90 marks for HL. The usage of Calculators is permitted and an IB Physics Data Booklet will be provided.

Scientific Investigation/Internal Assessment
The Internal Assessment is an integral part of the IBDP coursework that accounts to 20% of the final grade. The limit is 3,000 words and 12 pages for this assessment [with citations]. This assessment needs to incorporate your personal relation with your hypothesis, your method of investigation, data acquired, data evaluation, and conclusion.
